Dr. Pallab Mozumder is an Associate Professor in the Department of Earth & Environment at Florida International University (FIU). He has a joint appointment with the Department of Economics and is affiliated with the International Hurricane Research Center (IHRC) and the Latin American & Caribbean Center (LACC) at FIU. He received his PhD in Environmental and Natural Resources Economics from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico.

His research interests include environmental and natural resource economics, coastal resource management, and interdisciplinary approaches in addressing complex environmental issues. He is interested in understanding the human dimensions of environmental changes and mitigation of natural hazards and disasters. He has published several papers on topics such as wildfire risk, willingness to pay for safe drinking water, private transfers to cope with a natural disaster, role of information and communication networks in malaria survival, and causality relationship between electricity consumption and GDP in Bangladesh.

He is also involved in teaching courses on environmental economics, natural resource management, and development economics. He has received several awards for his teaching excellence, such as the FIU Faculty Excellence Award for Teaching (2019), the FIU College of Arts & Sciences Excellence in Teaching Award (2018), and the FIU College of Arts & Sciences Outstanding Faculty Award (2017).

He is a member of several professional associations, such as the American Economic Association (AEA), the Society for Environmental Economics and Policy (SEEP), the Society for Ecological Economics (SEE), the American Statistical Association (ASA), and the International Association for Water Resources Economics (IAWRE).

He is also active in outreach activities, such as serving as a consultant for various government agencies, non-governmental organizations, academic institutions, and media outlets on environmental issues. He has participated in several national and international conferences, workshops, seminars, symposia, and panels on topics related to his research interests.

He is passionate about sharing his knowledge and experience with students, colleagues, partners, and stakeholders. He enjoys mentoring students who are interested in pursuing careers or further studies in environmental economics or related fields. He also likes to travel to different places around the world to learn about different cultures and perspectives on environmental issues.
